Kevin is an oil burner mechanic at the Annapolis Valley Regional Centre of Education, and has done this type of work since 1994. He has been active with the union for 7 years now.
He is also a member of the Kingston and District Volunteer Fire Department and the Kingston Lions club. His favourite pastime is metal detecting.

Floyd is an inventory clerk at the SSRCE, and has been for four years. He has been active with Local 4682 for over four years.

Richard is a bus driver for SRCE. He started as a spare in 2013, and is now into his second year as a full time bus driver.

Shelley has been a Child and Youth Care Practitioner at the HRCE since 2018, but an active union member for 30 years, starting as a shop steward while working at the Children’s Aid Society of Algoma. She has been president of CUPE 5047 since 2024.

Having the privilege of working with my committed executive, NSSBCU and my Local has strengthened that commitment to push for change not only within my local but the Education sector as a whole.”
Robert Mackay
Communications Officer
Robert is a tradesman, now into his 29th year as an oil burner technician at CCRCE. He was hired as an apprentice in 1997. Robert has been active in the union since 2003, first through the district labour council and then through the provincial committee that was the precursor to the current NSSBCU.
He has been involved in the work of the NSSBCU since its’ inception, beginning with the first bylaw committee. Within his Local 3890 he has served as shop steward, vice president, president and served on various committees. On the NSSBCU he has served as both an alternate and officer representing his local, and as bylaw officer, trustee, recording secretary, secretary treasurer and has been the communications officer since 2024. Robert is a husband and father of two young adults.
